At this point, the road may be closed due to poor road conditions – travel at your own discretion. Driving on wet muddy roads may make them impassible even when they dry out, use common sense and don’t make road conditions worse. Walking is always a good choice if driving is questionable. The road into the Moose-Willow WMA closes during the winter months so driving access is limited to spring, summer and fall. This WMA lies within the Hill River State Forest. WMA rules apply, camping is allowed at signed locations only and Wild Rice harvesting is not allowed.
Directions: From Hill City, to the main access – three miles south on US Highway 169 then 1.5 miles east on 640th Lane (Widegar Forest Road), or from Hill City, six miles south on US Highway 169 then one mile east at the Haypoint Corner Club, then north across river and one mile east on trail to the southwest access point.
