West White Pine Forest Road

Nearest Town: McGrath

The East White Pine Forest Road is 3.2 miles long, ending at a gated access for hiking and ATV/snowmobile traffic. There are openings along the road made possible by Reinvest-In-Minnesota funds. These wildlife openings are great for viewing White-tailed Deer, Golden-winged and Chestnut-sided Warblers, Pileated Woodpecker and a variety of other forest edge inhabiting birds. The mixed pine woods and spruce plantings along the road should be checked for birds such as Red-breasted Nuthatch, White-breasted Nuthatch, Blue Jay, roosting owls and in fall and winter for Pine Grosbeak along with Red and White-winged Crossbill. An ATV trail connects the East White Pine Forest Road with the Split Rock Lake Forest Road to the north.

Directions: From McGrath, approximately eight miles north on State Highway 65, turn east onto marked forest road.
